"Coach" - Brilliant Sports Comedy TV Series

The Coach TV series was one of the most underrated and best sports comedy show of it's time. With it's tight comic scenes, good writings, strong & talented actings in every episodes, a lively theme songs, all bring success to the series; being on top 20 in Nielsen ratings for it's seasons, many awards and nominations from ASCAP, Emmy and Golden Globe and the delightful fun they bring to their viewers of all ages. Beside from being very funny & energetic TV series, Coach also has a great on-screen chemistry, a family-friendly show with touching storylines with balance discussion on its theme: winnings, losings, academic performances, campus politics, relationships and also, dreams.


Story revolves on an old-fashioned college football team head coach Hayden Fox of the fictional Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles (creator modeled Hayden after actual University of Iowa football coach Hayden Frye). Coach Fox loves to eat, sleep but a no-nonsense man with great passion on football while his television reporter fiancé Christine Armstrong who doesn't share sports passion at all leading their relationship in friction, and he deal with his daughter Kelly emerging in her womanhood. But Coach was able to balance his attention and sincere care for the women of his life with his football sports program trying his best make things work out. Coach Fox was aided by his two loyal assistant coaches, the stuttering kind-hearted Fox best friend Luther Van Dam and a perpetual dim-witted student Dauber Dybinski, together their sketchy logic and kind-heart towards their job bring comic humors as they deal with annoying and nagging athletic director Howard Burleigh and ladies basketball coach Judy Watkins. In the final episodes, Coach Fox fulfilled his ultimate dream, he become head coach of a professional NFL team (fictional expansion team of Orlando Breakers) and reminisce their college coaching years.


Award winning performances of Craig T. Nelson as Hayden Fox and Jerry Van Dyke as Luther Van Dam in this sports comedic Coach TV series, aired from February 1989 and lasted until May 1997, with the total of 9 seasons with 200 episodes, now on DVD.
